Thank you for posting my book on your website. When I wrote and illustrated The Winged Cat, it was a dream-come-true for me because, when I was four years old +, my grandmother took me to the Los Angeles County Museum of Art to look at ancient wonders. There was not one book about ancient Egypt for children, so, my grandmother bought me a copy of the Egyptian Book of the Dead, by Professor Wallis Budge. I loved the pictures. Ever since then it’s been a goal of mine to put all sorts of wonderful ancient art into picture books for young readers. Just being exposed to the art of ancient Egypt, Rome, Greece, China, Japan, Meso-America and more, much more, affects and stimulates young readers to explore. The power of a beautiful ancient sculpture or temple, a ruin or a reconstruction, like, for example, the marvelous Knossos (and, yes, I’ve done a book for young readers on that topic, too! what fun!), lets imaginations flow. I’ve had readers of all ages, from the very young to the somewhat older grandparents!, tell me how much pleasure they had perusing the illustrations! Wishing you many wonderful reading adventures, Deborah Nourse Lattimore
